On Tuesday, June 2 at the Statehouse on Beacon Hill 16 residents of Massachusetts were honored with the Portuguese Heritage Award. Among them, three are residents of Fall River; Irene Orlando, Chair of the Boys & Girls Club Board of the Directors, Robert Martins of Robert's Tuxedo, and Manual Alves a long time volunteer of the Santo Christo Church. The Award was given to Portuguese-Americans' who have taken the time to serve and help their community.
Due to a grant our office has received the YPS Program is able to offer an
excellent opportunity to our Portuguese community members. Starting April
28th a parenting group will be offered to the Portuguese parents in the area
who have at least one child under the age of six. Both group facilitators
will be providing information in Portuguese and English depending on the
needs of the participants.
The Women’s Center Fall River office, located at 209 Bedford Street, serves individuals who are victims of sexual assault. We offer comprehensive services in Sexual Assault counseling, medical advocacy, and referrals.
