Third Annual Peace by Piece Summit: A Day Full of Impact

The Peace by Piece Summit grows every year. This year was a great success, with many collaborating organizations and volunteers, and almost too many fun activities and challenging workshops to choose from. The video below (by Dr. Dave Weed with introductory slideshow presentation by Kristen Gunderson and song by Matisyahu) includes some highlights of the day. If you missed this year's summit, be sure to join us next March! Click here to view pictures from the Summit.

Keep up with other peace activities and events on MyFallRiver.org, and share your efforts toward peace on MyFallRiver.org (or by contacting United Neighbors of Fall River).

Make a Difference to an LGBT Teen

United Neighbors of Fall River Seeks Greater Fall River Community Members to Share Their Stories for the It Gets Better Project and the Make It Better Project.

United Neighbors is collecting videos for two important projects aiming to stop LGBT bullying and discrimination: It Gets Better Project and Make It Better. See below for more information on Make It Better.

We know that many teens across gender, race, class and sexual orientation experience bullying. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth experience particular torment, and often hide their sexuality for fear of emotional and physical cruelty. LGBT youth experience discrimination, threats and often physical violence. Many feel that they have no options. Some have taken their own lives. It Gets Better is working to let kids know that as they get older, it will get better. We ask Greater Fall River adults to help us send this message loud and clear: it does get better.

A Million Little Peaces

With all the hullababaloo surounding the upcoming Peace by Piece summit, we're interested to know what you're doing to make Fall River a more peaceful place. Acts of peace can be as simple and doable as saying "thank you" to someone who does you a service. They can also be as complicated as letting go of a long standing grudge. So tell us, what's your small act of peace?
