Boys & Girls Club at Project 351
Three Boys & Girls Club of Fall River middle school students and Youth Leadership Coordinator Syed Zaman were among four hundred Massachusetts youth ambassadors and educators at Saturday's Project 351 event in Brighton, MA.
Boys & Girls Club youth made a difference in the lives of thousands of people by conforming to Governor Deval Patrick's belief "in the power of service – and in the potential of the Commonwealth's next generation of learners and leaders." At Project 351, the young leaders painted murals to transform education centers, learned about hunger, poverty and community building, and demonstrated their commitment to service and volunteerism.
"Our youth were excited to have met Governor Patrick and Celtics player Ray Allen, and
were sad to leave the network of friends they created while serving the community. I, personally, was super impressed by our club members’ stamina, level of maturity and responsibility, and hard work. I was inspired, and my enthusiasm for incorporating more service learning into our Club’s programs to lead positive change was strengthened as a result of having witnessed the compassion, creativity, confidence, and courage that our members were able to exude." - Boys & Girls Club Youth Leadership Coordinator/SCI/AmeriCorps Member Syed Zaman
