GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the Family Advocacy & Community Education division of People, Incorporated, the program director will be responsible for the day to day oversight and operations of the Diabetes Association, Inc. and its various programs and activities which are all aimed at improving the health and well-being of the communities served by advancing diabetes prevention, early detection, education and disease management. The program director reports to the director of Family Advocacy & Community Education division. 
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES WILL ALSO INCLUDE:
·         Creates a work atmosphere that encourages communication, fosters teamwork and mutual respect, and inspires creativity and motivation.
·         With the Division Director, establishes budgets for all programs and working within these budgets, determines program needs including: purchasing, marketing and scheduling for program and activities as well as creating annual action plans and applying for grant funding to support operational budget and programming needs.
·         Responsible for data collection and management.
·         Recruits and cultivates volunteers and partners to assist in programming, fundraising, and promoting the mission of the DAI.
·         Sets and reviews goals, objectives and accomplishments of Youth, Camp and Adult Programs and manages Prevention Programs to address the awareness and prevention of Type II diabetes in youth and their families, across generations.
·         Facilitates weekly staff meetings.
·         Participates in planning of all marketing and communications.
·         Works with community groups, schools and health providers to develop systematic approaches that will improve health and wellness and decrease the risk and incidences of diabetes.
·         Plays a major role in the execution of all special event fundraising and third party event fundraising.
·         Assists in the implementation of all DAI programs and camp as needed.
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
·    Demonstrated management experience
·    Ability to manage multiple priorities
·    Experience running programs related to health and wellness under multiple funding sources
·    Knowledge and experience working with individuals and families with Type 1 and Type II diabetes preferred
·    Bachelor Degree required
 
Qualifying criminal background check and motor vehicle record required.
