YOUTH VOICE MLK DAYS OF SERVICE
Next Thursday, January 14, 2010 kicks off Martin Luther King Days of Service for the Youth in Fall River. Over the course of five days, the youth “super-group” YOUTH V.O.I.C.E will volunteer at numerous locations working towards making a difference in their community. These projects will include, visiting nursing homes, reading to elementary school students, holding food/clothing drives, as well as writing letters and compiling care packages for a unit of soldiers from Fall River, who are training and preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.
As the youth work hard to make this difference, we ask the members of the community to help them in their work by donating various “goodies” that could be put in the care packages for the soldiers. Listed below are items that would be greatly appreciated:
Food: Canned soup, Beef Jerky, Fruit Cups, M&Ms, Chex Mix, Honey Roasted Peanuts, Tea Bags, Coffee and Sugar Packets, Sunflower Seeds, Gatorade or Kool-aid, Crystal Light Packages, Combos, Rice Krispies Treats, Raisins, Popcorn, Nerds, Sprees, Laffy Taffy, Gum, and other like products
Items: Current DVDs, current music CDs, Novels, Magazines, Chapstick, Foot Powder, Nail Clippers, Toothbrush/Toothpaste, Floss, Mouth wash, Shampoo, Comb, Cotton Swabs, Tissues, Hand Sanitizer, Anti-bacterial Wipes, Hand/Food Warmers, Tweezers
On Monday, January 18, 2010 there will be a celebration at CD REC to recognize the service accomplishments of the Youth in our city.
