United Neighbors of Fall River is one of 22 Community Connection Coalitions funded throughout the state of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. United Neighbors is committed to promoting a strong, healthy and safe community. We are invested in our community and develop and assist in projects and events that strengthen and build on the community. Our work is reflective of the needs of the community. Our projects include violence prevention, connecting the community, foster care, parent advocacy and so much more.


The mission of the Diabetes Association Inc. is to improve the health and well being of the communities that DAI serve by advancing diabetes prevention, early detection and disease management.The Diabetes Association Inc. holds a plethora of programs for adults, youth and families. With offices located at 170 Pleasant St in Fall River and 26 Caroline St in New Bedford, there is always someone to assist with any diabetes questions or concerns. Staff are also available for one on one consultations.
Matt Santos and his wife, Beth, have been working full force since the start of the challenge. Matt is a diabetic and, with Beth, has be working diligently to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. He works in a kitchen and is around food all of the time. He conquers each day to the fullest and he and his wife are supporting each other each step of the way. Matt's look out on all of this is, "Fitness requires work and effort.
The next Fitness Challenge is coming this Saturday, February 20. It will be at Industrial Park beginning at 9am. Each participant will choose their route at the beginning. You will be required to time yourself. The walking path at Industrial Park is a newly implemented walking path that opened this past fall. It was one of the many new walking paths within the city that you can take advantage of any day to help reach your Fall River Fitness Challenge goals.

The 2010 Fitness Challenge, the third offered by the Diabetes Association, Inc. (DAI), Children In Balance, Community Development Recreation (CD-REC), the Fall River YMCA and Healthy Lives Fall River, held its initial weigh-in and health fair on January 9th at the Veterans' Memorial on Bank Street.
