United Neighbors
Welcome to Jenny's Blog. This section has been created to help connect the community! Through my previous work with United Neighbors of Fall River and currently People, Inc., I have been working to connect parents, youth, residents, business leaders, health & human service providers and many others to resources, information and events within the Fall River community.

The first of more than forty-five Peace Poles created by 25 local organizations was "planted" at Griffin Park on May 12, 2010. The event was one of several initiatives aimed at creating a more peaceful community by raising awareness and promoting empowerment, collaboration and connection to reduce and prevent violence."Throughout the City, both indoors and out, poles will be planted to serve as a constant visual reminder that peace is truly attainable if the community works together," stated United Neighbors director Wendy Garf-Lipp. The World Peace Prayer Society contributed handcrafted desktop peace poles to be given to Mayor Flanagan, Acting Fall River Police Chief Dan Racine, Bristol County DA Samuel Sutter, and the Fall River Shannon Community Safety Initiative.
On March 27, 2010, the Violence Prevention Task Force will be holding its Second Annual Peace by Piece Summit. This year the summit will be held at Kuss Middle School, 53 Globe Mills Avenue. Members of the Peaceful Coalition will be featured as the Keynote speakers. Throughout the day there will be workshops that will help us learn to promote a more peaceful community and develop and implement strategies, programs and policies that address the issues of violence prevention in our community.
